Works on display include more than 150 documents and records of historical witnesses, recounting the happenings of the historic August Revolution.

75 years ago, on August 19, 1945, under the clear-sighted leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the entire nation took the opportunity to rise up in a revolt that seized and returned power to the people.

The revolution’s great victory helped people, formerly slaves, liberate themselves to become the owners of the country, and break the chains of slavery, colonialism and feudalism to establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, marking the dawn of a new era of national independence and socialism.

Prominent among the exhibits include Party’s resolutions and documents, propaganda posters, and weapons and flags used by Vietnamese people during the revolution.

The exhibition will run through December at No.25 Tong Dan street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.

Also on the morning of August 18, the Vietnam Military History Museum in coordination with the State Records Management and Archives Department and the Vietnam National Museum of History opened an exhibition themed ‘August Revolution – A historic milestone’.

The event exhibits to visitors more than 300 historical documents, photos and objects, which affirm the great significance of the August Revolution in the Vietnam’s history, as well as the country’s achievements in national construction and defence over the past 30 years of the Doi Moi (Renewal) process.

The display will run until September 30 at the Vietnam Military History Museum, No.28A Dien Bien Phu street, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi.
