Phan Thiet overwhelmed with festive atmosphere of Mid-Autumn lantern parade

BTO –The 2016 Mid-Autumn festival of Phan Thiet city took place in the evening of September 15 (August 15th of the lunar year) in the eagerness of local children and visitors.

After the ceremonial part, which included listening to the State President’s letter wishing children nationwide a happy and enjoyable Mid-Autumn festival, offering gifts to excellent students…., 33 large lanterns along with thousands of small ones taken by students form 33 school in the city joined a lantern parade across some busy streets of the city in boisterous drumbeat, lion dances and hearty cheers of local people and tourists in the full moon night. Most of lanterns were vividly designed with ideas originating from characters of fairy tales and cartoons such as: carp, diligent bee, rabbit…, or images symbolizing Phan Thiet-Binh Thuan like the water tower, wind power turbines, lighthouse, etc..

Especially,  more than 3,000 small lanterns made with the same theme of the large ones were lit up by wax instead of batteries and electricity. The event, which has been recognized as the largest Mid-Autumn lantern parade festival in Vietnam, is also one of the most spectacular and successful cultural festival of Binh Thuan tourism sector. The festival has created a unique tourism product of Phan Thiet-Binh Thuan with the purpose of promoting the images of land, people as well as cultural values of the locality to domestic and international travelers.
