In the meantime, they are asked to coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade to monitor and update information on the consumption of agricultural products (especially for dragon fruit), congestion and backlog at the northern border gates to provide timely information to people.
People and businesses are required to actively develop appropriate production and business plans, while following regulations on Covid-19 prevention and control. Remarkably, the activities of preliminary processing, processing, preservation and storage of agricultural products take into consideration.
The Provincial People's Committee also recommended focusing on the promotion of production, according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP and organic standards. In parallel, it should develop areas of agricultural raw materials and commodities, concentrated and sustainable to ensure quality for export, consumption and processing. The in-charged bodies should instruct people and businesses, especially businesses that purchase, pack and transport dragon fruits to fully comply with measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic.
The Department of Industry and Trade continues to coordinate with the northern border provinces to capture and promptly update information to provide businesses with effective production plans. Moreover, the amount of goods to the border gate should be regulated so that the opening is suitable to the capacity and progress of customs clearance. In addition, activities to connect supply and demand, consumption of agricultural products between Binh Thuan province and other provinces and cities should be further promoted, especially focusing on retail systems, supermarket chains in the country. Besides, agricultural production and trading enterprises have to actively control food quality and safety, strictly comply with regulations on the use of planting area codes, farming area codes, packing house codes...
As known, over the past time, the situation of exporting agricultural products to the Chinese market has faced many difficulties due to the implementation of the zero Covid-19 policy by the Chinese side, and the northern border gates were continuously closed and stopped customs clearance. Particularly in Binh Thuan, dragon fruit products are difficult to sell, the selling price is low, only 500-2,0VND/kg. According to the Provincial Dragon Fruit Association, an estimated of over 100,000 tons of dragon fruits is need to be consumed by the end of March 2022.
