Binh Thuan’s leaders work with ADB and Netherlands’ Invest International Fund on climate change projects

BTO - On June 9th morning, Standing Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Phan Van Dang chaired a working session with members of the delegation of Invest International Fund (Netherlands) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the project of improving the environment of Binh Thuan’s urban centers of the second class.

Speaking at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Van Dang said that: On December 27, 2021, the Prime Minister approved the Project Proposal on "Improving the urban environment in 2nd- class urban areas in Binh Thuan Province’s Component". Its capital is borrowed with interest from ADB. This is a group A project, with a total investment of VND 3,062 billion (of which ADB's capital is VND 2,158 billion), including 4 sub-projects: (1) Adding stormwater and wastewater sewers to the city center city, renovating and increasing the capacity of the wastewater treatment station of Phan Thiet city; (2) Building a wastewater collection and treatment system for Ham Tien and Mui Ne wards; (3) Sea embankment combined with road management, rescue and rescue along Tran Le street to prevent coastal erosion and erosion; (4) Embankment, dredging on both sides of Ca Ty river from Duc Thanh bridge to Ca Ty bridge. Which, the financial aid from the Netherlands' Invest International Fund is expected to pump into sub-project 3 (Sea embankment combined with road management, rescue, and rescue along Tran Le street to prevent coastal erosion).
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed: The investment in the coastal protection embankment is an excellent sign for the province. The project will limit coastal erosion and improve people's lives. The Provincial People's Committee will urge the Phan Thiet City People's Committee and relevant departments and agencies to implement the project on schedule according to the set goals.
Willem Mak, director of the Invest International Fund in Asia, shared: The Invest International Fund will learn more about the project and the component invested in Binh Thuan, then send the necessary appraisal information about the applications to the relevant person in the Netherlands. From there, the Dutch side will have an official decision on what to do and what projects to invest in Binh Thuan
